What is a Setting?

Sound Wall!!

This year we have introduced a SOUND WALL and displayed it in our room. It is visual reminder for our students to reference of phonetic sounds taught in class. Each sound has a mouth articulation picture on it students can reference that as a reminder as well!

Friendship Bread!

Every classroom needs a recipe for friendship and that's just what we had today! We read the book, Do Unto Otters, and discussed all of the "ingredients" to making sweet friendships! It's Character Day!

It's Character Day here at school!!! We have been using this amazing character presentation and worksheet (linked below) to really explore just exactly what a character is and their inside and outside traits. Today each student got to dress as their favorite book character!!

A Year Worth of Number Sense!

Kindness is Cooler!

To further instill classroom community we read the book, Kindness is cooler Mrs. Ruler! We then issued the kindness school challenge and the kids will earn a heart for each act of kindness. We also, introduced our class incentive ruler. The heart clip is moved each time the class gets a class complement! When we get to 12 the kids get to vote of a class celebration! Having a Great "Time" in Math!

To finish up our time unit we went outside and played a game using analog clocks spray painted on sheets! The children were given a time either to the hour or half hour and had to make it with their bodies! One was the hour hand and the other the minute hand! We had a blast!

Whole Body Listening with Howard B Wigglebottom!


This week we have chosen the book, Howard B. Wigglebottom Learns to Listen, to teach whole body listening. We bought these rabbit ears from Amazon (linked below) and the children made their own listening ears and wore them while we read. After that we completed oral following directions pages and a cute bunny craft (linked below) to review whole body listening.

Decibella and Her 6 Inch Voice!

This year we have implemented a new way to help with volume control in our classrooms! We read the book, Decibella and Her 6 Inch Voice, and have been using these push button lights labeled with our personalized bitmojis accompanied by LED lights around our board as a visual cues of what's expected of the students and the noise level in the classroom! Parts of a Book: Hands on Labeling Activity!

We've started off this year familiarizing ourselves with parts of a book and directionality when reading! Using children selected literature each student was given post it notes labeled with the different parts of a book. They then searched through their book and labeled each part! This was a great hands on labeling activity. Linked is the Parts of a book PPT we used, labels outline we used to print the post its and worksheets we used to practice!
